I have found mornings with coffee are better than mornings without. Especially when it comes from next door.
Coffee from next door comes with extra wake-up. No sugar, no cream. All caffeine and rant from two of the very best.
Meat and Tater rolled through my front door bright and early this morning with a pot of coffee and something on their mind.
"Think we'll be able to hear the hum from that data center they want to build in Jenkins, SJ?" Meat asked as he filled my cup.
I didn't get a chance to answer. "No way you'll be able to hear it past Shelby Gap." Tater stated as she takes the coffee pot from him. "We'll know it's there cause there'll be no water in Elkhorn Creek."
There wasn't really anything I could do other than take a drink. Probably a couple of drinks would be best.
"Okay, good morning to you too. No Meat I don't think you'll be able to hear the datacenter in Elkhorn. And Tater I guess they already built that thing then, because there's been no water in Elkhorn Creek for months."
They responded simultaneously, as usual. How can you not love that?
"You need hearing aids anyway." and "See? It'll be like permanent drought." I'll let you decide which one said what.
"Well I don't think either one of those things will really happen," I replied. "Don't mean I'm for a datacenter. I'm not for any infrastructure that supports commercial AI. We wouldn't need artificial intelligence if people actually started using their own. Putting AI in the public's hands is dumber than dynamite."
I stopped for another drink. Again the cute couple respond simultaneously.
"What's wrong with dynamite?" asks Meat while Tater laughs through "Use their own? That's a good one SJ!"
There wasn't much I could say to either response, so I finished my cup and thrust it toward Tater who was still holding onto the pot. She laughed again. "Oh SJ you crack me up!"
"I want to know what's wrong with dynamite?" Meat can be so serious which makes Tater and I both laugh.
"Meat honey, not everyone's been blowing things up since they were in diapers. You can't give every Tom, Dick and Harry a stick of dynamite."
"Yeah Meat, look at all the lost fingers and hands with just cherry bombs and M80s around 4th of July. What would happen if they had something really powerful?"
Meat looked genuinely hurt. "How can you talk about M80s the same as dynamite? M80s aren't good for anything. But dynamite? You can really do something with dynamite. Maybe if everybody had some they'd get something done and learn a little responsibility along the way. Remember, if it weren't for dynamite, there'd be no peace prize."
Tater and I both took long drinks from our coffee cups. Meat logic sometimes takes heavy contemplation. And sometimes it's best to just move on.
"That datacenter would have to be awful loud to hear it all the way to Elkhorn. Imagine what it'd sound like in Whitesburg," I managed to get out.
Tater jumped right in. "They wouldn't have any water there either. No, we don't need any data centers around here."
