Strait Talk

Memories are surely short among some Americans these days. Just last June they celebrated "obliterating" Iran's nuclear ambitions.

So justifying the $4.54 national average cost of a gallon as the price you pay for a nuclear free Iran must assume most of our mental faculties have stopped facilitating.

The national average price of gas has risen 52% since the day Netanyahu whispered "Epstein tapes" and "bomb Iran" in Trump's ear. Not that I believe that whole Epstein being a Mossad operative conspiracy drivel. Not me. I'm just speculating.

Ben the Killer Rat must have said something to Delusional Don that turned Iran's nuclear program from obliterated to imminent.

But I digress. While you're paying 52% more for gas so the Secretary of WarPaint can opine about the war crimes he wants to commit, the cost of everything else is also rising. The price of diesel is up 48% since the first of March. It costs more to truck anything, which is basically everything. That means all mining and construction cost more, too.

The near doubling of the price of jet fuel has increased the cost of flying across the board and put one of the leading budget airlines out of business, putting 17,000 out of work. One less airline means less competition which means even higher airfares.

Have we mentioned international shipping? Only 1/4 of the world's oil supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz where Iran can target tankers like ducks on the backyard swimming pool. Funny how fifty years of presidents and defense secretaries recognized that but the current versions shrugged their shoulders.

Who knew? Other than anybody who can find Iran on a map.

The real question is who knows how many more peace agreement is imminent followed by the end of Iranian civilization is nigh we can have. Correct answer is unanswerable because the Trump controlled congress has ceded power to the executive branch. The only sure things among the imminents and nighs are late night delusional social media posts.

We need more data centers to populate Truth Social. It takes a lot of AI to turn Trump into Jesus riding a flaming eagle. But maybe I'm digressing again, what was I babbling about?

O yes. Short memories. You really need a short memory to buy anything Trump and his party of sycophants tell you. Whether it's how many times he's obliterated Iran's nuclear program, how many times he swore to keep the U.S. out of foreign conflicts, or how many times he claimed to bring prices down.

The thing to remember is there are a whole cult of lookalikes swearing undying fealty to a diaper wearing rage posting conman teetering on dementia on the television and radio. That means they're good with wars for no reason causing even further damage to an economy already hammered by an idiotic and illegal tariff policy. They're good with high gas prices and high prices on everything else.

That's why they voted for healthcare costs to go up and access to decrease after the coming midterms. So you'd have plenty of time to forget before you vote.

It's like they think you have no mind at all.
